UTM checker: common questions
What does a UTM checker do?
It reads the utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content and utm_term values in your links and flags mistakes that split or misfile traffic in GA4: missing parameters, uppercase variants, spaces, unrecognised mediums and inconsistent source names.
Why does my campaign traffic show as Unassigned in GA4?
Usually because utm_medium is not a value GA4’s default channel grouping recognises, for example "organic_social" instead of "social", or a custom medium such as "qr". The checker flags these and suggests a GA4-compatible value.
Are my links uploaded or stored?
No. Links are analysed in your browser. If you request the cleaned file, the cleaned links are sent only to build and email it and are not kept.
Is the UTM checker free?
Yes. The checker and the Excel template are free without sign-up; only the cleaned file is sent by email.
