QUESTIONS

UTM builder: common questions

What is a UTM builder?

A tool that adds utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign and optional utm_content and utm_term parameters to a URL so analytics tools such as GA4 can attribute visits to the right campaign.

Which utm_medium values does GA4 recognise?

GA4’s default channel group recognises values such as cpc, paid_social, social, email, display, banner, cpm, affiliate, referral, video, audio, sms and push. The builder only offers GA4-compatible mediums by default.

Should UTM values be lowercase?

Yes. GA4 treats "LinkedIn" and "linkedin" as different values, so the builder lowercases values and replaces spaces with underscores.

Can I build UTM links in bulk?

Yes. Batch mode lets you add, duplicate or paste many rows from a spreadsheet, each with its own status, and receive them as an Excel file.
